Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)

Medically supervised treatment for confirmed testosterone deficiency.

Hormone Replacement Therapy for men, commonly referred to as Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT), is a medically supervised treatment that may be considered for men with symptoms of testosterone deficiency and appropriately confirmed low testosterone levels. Low testosterone can be associated with symptoms such as reduced energy, decreased libido, changes in sexual function, reduced muscle mass, changes in mood and difficulty concentrating. However, these symptoms can have many different causes and do not necessarily mean that testosterone levels are low. At West-Med, treatment begins with a comprehensive medical assessment. Where clinically indicated, blood tests and further investigations may be requested to establish whether testosterone deficiency is present and to identify other possible causes of your symptoms. TRT is not appropriate for every patient and should only be prescribed following an individual medical assessment.

A medical approach to hormone health

At West-Med, we don't treat symptoms or a testosterone result in isolation. Your doctor will consider your symptoms, medical history, current medication, lifestyle, reproductive plans and relevant risk factors as part of your assessment. Appropriate blood tests may be requested to evaluate testosterone levels and other relevant health markers. Depending on your results and clinical assessment, additional investigation may be necessary before treatment is considered. If testosterone replacement therapy is clinically appropriate, your doctor will discuss the available treatment options, expected benefits, limitations, potential risks and the monitoring required during treatment. Patients receiving TRT require ongoing medical follow-up to assess their response to treatment and monitor relevant health markers.

Doctor-led men's hormone care

Symptoms associated with low testosterone can overlap with many other medical and lifestyle-related conditions. That is why our approach starts with identifying the possible cause rather than assuming hormone replacement is the answer. West-Med provides medically supervised assessment, appropriate investigation and individualised treatment planning. Where TRT is indicated, your treatment is prescribed and monitored by a medical professional, with ongoing follow-up based on your clinical needs and response to treatment. Our aim is to provide men with appropriate medical care and the information they need to make informed decisions about their health.

What are the symptoms of low testosterone?

Possible symptoms can include reduced libido, fatigue, changes in sexual function, reduced muscle mass, changes in mood and difficulty concentrating. These symptoms can also be caused by other conditions, which is why an appropriate medical assessment is important.

How do I know if my testosterone is low?

Symptoms alone are not enough to diagnose testosterone deficiency. Your doctor will assess your symptoms and medical history and may request appropriately timed blood tests. Further testing may be required depending on the results and your individual circumstances.

Will I automatically receive testosterone if my level is low?

No. A laboratory result needs to be interpreted alongside your symptoms, medical history and other relevant clinical information. Your doctor will determine whether further investigation or treatment is appropriate.

What types of testosterone replacement are available?

Testosterone therapy is available in different formulations and methods of administration. The appropriate option depends on your individual circumstances, clinical findings and treatment requirements. Your doctor can discuss the available options with you if treatment is indicated.

Does testosterone replacement require ongoing monitoring?

Yes. Patients receiving testosterone therapy generally require ongoing medical monitoring. Your doctor will determine which follow-up assessments and blood tests are appropriate based on your treatment and individual risk factors.
